Dalyan Tour

We’ll be picking you up early morning and setting off on our drive from Kalkan to the charming village of Kayakoy. The setting for Louis Des Berniers novel Birds Without Wings, Kayakoy is an old Greek citadel and ghost village abandoned after the Turkish – Greek War. Listed by UNESCO as a ‘World Friendship and Peace Village’, today it’s an open air museum with orthodox churches and hundreds of empty houses.

Next we head to Dalyan, a fertile land lying on the Omonym river. Here we’ll embark on a 2 hour boat trip along the river to admire the Rock Tombs carved into the mountains in the fourth century BC. And if we’re lucky, we might even get a glimpse of ‘Kareta Kareta’ –the Loggerhead turtles which are native to the region. Dalyan gained international fame in 1987 when developers wanted to build a luxury hotel on Iztuzu beach –our final destination, and a breeding ground for the endangered loggerheads.
