On the Threshold of Santa Claus

We’ll bet our bottom dollar you didn’t know that the origin of the Santa Clause legend is rooted right here in Turkey. Saint Nikolaos of Demre was a 4th century Christian Saint and Greek Bishop of Myra in Lycia. Due to the many miracles associated with his intercessions, he was also known as Saint Nikolaos the Wonderworker. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, and would often put coins in people’s shoes.

Our tour of Saint Nikolaos’ homeland, will involve a fascinating foray into the annals of history as we explore the 4th Century church and its beautiful frescoes. Our next stop will take us further back in time, and involves a visit to the Lycian site of Myra with its acropolis, Roman theatre, Roman baths and tombs.

And finaly as we approach the foothills of Olympos, you’ll be faced with two choices: exploring the ancient Olympos ruins; or chilling out in on the beach.
