If the ancient Lycians really were inclined to piracy, then the Lycian coast would have offered the perfect setting for this vocation. Having aptly gained a reputation as a the ‘pirate coast’, the land-meets-sea-scape here is full of small islands and strategically placed coves. Making it ideal of course for hiding and lying in wait for hapless merchant ships, fat for the plunder.
