Here is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the Lycians as we head out to the once capital and greatest city of the Lycian federation. Xanthos stands atop an elevated area within the Xanthos valley with the river flowing closely under the city´s west side.
Descend into myth and legend now, as we embark on a trek to the lair of the Chimaera. This is an evening tour, so we´ll embark in the afternoon from Kalkan and drive to Cirali at our starting point. The 3 km route is an easy walk along a rough stone path as we climb North-wards to Yanartas, which translates as Burning Rock.
Our first stop is the Green Lake, then up to the town of Elmali to enjoy a traditional lunch cooked with organic produce grown and derived locally on these fertile lands. With bellies full and satisfied, we´ll resume our journey to nearby vineyards where traditional Lycian wine is made from local and international grapes.
We’ll be picking you up early morning and setting off on our drive from Kalkan to the charming village of Kayakoy.
